At about 4 pm today (19th), the police received a report from a worker at a construction site near Jingtou, Xisha Road, Ma'anshan, stating that a 46-year-old worker surnamed Huang was hit in the chest by a steel cable.
Police officers arrived at the scene. The male victim was in a coma and was sent to the Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment. He was later certified dead.
After initial investigation by the police, the case was sent to hospital and died.
The Labour Department stated that it had dispatched staff to the scene immediately after receiving the report and is now investigating the cause of the accident.
