Freising

- It was an extraordinary event: During the Corona lockdown in spring, the well-known Freising band Luz Amoi gave a living room concert that also served a good cause.

The audience was called upon not only to support art and culture with a donation, but also to donate to a tree-planting campaign at kindergartens and schools in the district.

And now they are busy planting.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.

Sparkasse Freising initiated this live stream benefit concert, supported by the Freising Community Foundation.

During the campaign period, viewers donated the proud sum of 5,300 euros for the tree planting campaign.

With their tree-planting campaign, called a “sustainable environmental project”, the organizers want to raise children's awareness of nature, the environment and climate protection and introduce them to the topic of sustainability at an early stage.

Fruit trees are currently being planted at 21 kindergartens and schools.

One of these actions took place at the Freising Camerloher High School. Class 6e with their class teacher Simone Freight, the members of the AG Schulgarten, headmistress Andrea Bliese and director Jochen Meyer could hardly wait for Ingrid Beer from Sparkasse Freising to arrive with the big apple tree. The caretakers had already prepared the hole for the tree next to the raised beds in the school garden. The children picked up spades and rakes and lend a hand. The apple tree was quickly planted and fixed to two posts.

After the work was done, everyone was satisfied and hope that the little tree will remind students, teachers and parents of the important topic of sustainability every day.

And it now has to be watered vigorously every week so that it bears a lot of fruit in the next year.

“We will reliably do this every week,” promised the members of the Schulgarten AG.
