Biessenhofen - Last week, the kick-off event for the municipal alliance for neighborhood help “all hands” of the Biessenhofen administration took place in the ballroom in Schützenstrasse.

Wolfgang Eurisch had invited to the small ceremony in his function as community leader of Biessenhofen.

For those present there were drinks and cookies, as well as several musical contributions by some singers of the Ruderatshofen church choir under the direction of Christine Burghausen.

In his welcoming speech, Mayor Eurisch paid tribute to the preparatory work that had been carried out so far, which had now been successfully completed despite Corona.

The neighborhood aid project is an important component of the municipal district concept and will be funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs over a period of four years.

“AllerHand” essentially relies on voluntary commitment, but is professionally coordinated by the two district managers Regina Wegmann and Birgit Martin.

Both are qualified specialists, have a lot of experience in health care, medicine and care for the elderly and were each entrusted with setting up the structure. The two partnerships Aitrang-Ruderatshofen and Biessenhofen-Bidingen will now create a dense network for neighborhood help and start working immediately. For this purpose, local representatives from the healthcare and nursing sectors were also deliberately invited, whom they would like to rely on as multipliers and partners. The senior representative of the Ostallgäu district Irmgard Haberberger was also invited. In her greeting, she thanked the two neighborhood managers and the mayors of the four municipalities for what she said, “enormous commitment and great responsibility” in setting up neighborhood aid.Especially in times of Corona, both could only have taken place under difficult conditions. The chemistry between the community boards and the managers is right and is therefore another key to success. Haberberger praised the administrative community as an absolute “reference address” for them when it comes to neighborhood work.

At home for as long as possible

In the following, the two neighborhood managers presented their neighborhood aid project in detail. Against the background of demographic change, “allerHand” is a necessary communal contribution to services of general interest. Although the period of public funding is limited to four years, a permanent offer of services for help and support in everyday life is to be created here, in which all four municipalities are involved in the same way. “AllerHand” has made it its goal to close the existing gaps in the daily routine of elderly and needy people. The top priority here is that everyone in need can stay in their own four walls for as long as possible. In order to permanently guarantee a self-determined life in one's own home environment and at the same time to prevent loneliness in old age, the network would like to offer a variety of assistance for all needy people. This includes smaller auxiliary services in the house and garden, mobility assistance and accompaniment to doctors, authorities or shopping, as well as support in dealing with formalities or with new technical devices.

The social component also plays an important role in neighborhood help: This is about joint activities and excursions or simply regular visits where people talk, play together or just read aloud.

This should also relieve relatives who are already caring for them.

Everyone should participate

Basically everyone over the age of 13 can and should participate. Young people in particular are very welcome at Neighborhood Assistance. You can not only bring a lot of energy and a breath of fresh air into the project, but also become a valuable part of a cross-generational coexistence. Citizens who are in the middle of life are just as welcome, as are vigorous seniors who are naturally also familiar with the needs of older people. In a joint meeting with Wegmann and Martin, it can then be found out in which area the individual can best get involved. By the way, people who have the time, but are unsure, are particularly cordially invited towhether their talents and professional experience can be of any use in helping the neighborhood. Experience has shown that in previous conversations with everyone a surprisingly large number of talents and abilities had been revealed, and not infrequently to such an extent that both sides were ultimately surprised.

Mayor Wolfgang Eurisch can only confirm this: "What comes out regularly in these discussions is basically the realization that there are no untalented people."

Attractive reward

Regardless of the nature of their work, all volunteer helpers of the neighborhood help can expect an expense allowance of ten euros per hour worked.

This income is tax-free up to an amount of 3,000 euros per year thanks to the statutory “flat rate for trainers”.

Motorized mobility aids are also given a kilometer flat rate of 25 cents.

The money is raised by the people who use the services.

In addition to the ten euro expense allowance for the helpers, the beneficiaries are charged an additional two euros for administrative expenses and for the placement.

From now on, all interested parties are invited and called upon to get in touch with the coordinators from “allerHand”.
