A big sigh of relief was released last night (Monday) by the Hapoel Jerusalem team after the 72:90 over Hapoel Beer Sheva, which brought some color back to their cheeks after the painful losses in Europe and the pressure that arose in the club in their wake.

Since the loss to Manresa last Wednesday the professional team has conducted lighter training to regain confidence and also bring joy of life into the team that seemed off.

Coach Oren Amiel and sports director Yotam Halperin held individual and group conversations with the players to understand the problems and find solutions for the future.

"We owed this victory following the situation that arose," the club admitted.

"If only the threes had come in against Manresa as they came in this game we could have been in a completely different place."

Oren Amiel said after the game: "We expected a very difficult and physical game, from my acquaintance with Rami Hadar it is always what you meet and that was our first task. We found a bit of joy in our game and it is very important to continue."

Kilpatrick in a frenzy.

Sean Kilpatrick, who underwent an education series in the game against Manresa after committing a disciplinary offense, responded excellently to his bench with 28 points and a pick for the outstanding player.

"We had a good conversation, Sean is the responsible adult and when Sean is good it's good for us. Mistakes are part of the business and living with them, the way everyone picked each other up is the change I loved. It's important for the players to take the good moments."

Alongside Kilpatrick, the one who garnered the most compliments is Jaylen Adams.

"He is one of the most talented players we have seen," Amiel praised.

"You don't have to be a basketball genius to figure it out. He's in the process of evolving and if he understands the things he still needs to learn the sky is the limit for him."

The player himself said: "We started well, set the tone and came with the right energy, gave the extra delivery properly and I am happy with this victory. We did a good job, I think the whole story was the team connection and choosing the right actions. The game in Israel is much more tactical than in countries "The alliance, the teams are implementing a game plan and for that everyone here is being measured."

Anthony Bennett, who was absent from the game after suffering side effects last week due to the vaccine he received, has returned to training in recent days and is expected to be fit to play against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Saturday.

The team continues to search for a quality inside player who will upgrade the missing front line.

Once a good player comes out with a reasonable salary, the club heads will work to complete the deal quickly.
