How far will the standoff with the Polish government go?
The names of birds flew Tuesday morning in Strasbourg between the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki.
The first compared the power of Warsaw to an "
autocratic
"
regime
.
The second denounced the "
blackmail
" exerted on his country.
Both were participating in a debate on the questioning, by the Polish Constitutional Court, of the rule of EU law.
This decision opens, in fact, a breach in the foundations of the EU and would also allow Warsaw to continue to unravel the independence of the judiciary in the country without the European justice being able to put its nose in it.

We cannot allow - and we will not allow - our shared values to be endangered.
The Commission will act.
And all the options are known,
