The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, warned Tuesday (October 19th) in Strasbourg that she will act to defend the “
common values
” of the EU, after the decision of the Polish constitutional court challenging the primacy of European law.

Poland, for its part, rejects the “
blackmail
” of the European Union in matters of law, declared its Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, affirming that the Constitution remains “
the supreme law
” for his country.

Blackmail is becoming a habitual method of some Member States, this is not the basis of democracy,
”criticized Mateusz Morawiecki, speaking to MEPs, while Warsaw is in the sights of Brussels, after a recent decision of the Polish Constitutional Court challenging the primacy of European law.
