During a vehicle inspection in Dortmund, customs officials found drugs worth several hundred thousand euros in a 24-year-old's car.
The man was on the A2 in the direction of Hanover on Thursday when he was withdrawn from traffic, as the main customs office in Dortmund announced on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old looked nervous and said he was on the way back from the Netherlands.
Dortmund - During the search, the officers found a total of about 20 kilograms of various drugs and a butterfly knife.
The driver was provisionally arrested on suspicion of illegally importing narcotics.
At the request of the public prosecutor's office, the investigating judge ordered him to be held in custody.
