Since May, several hundred workers in Saxon wholesale and foreign trade have been on strike for better wages. On Tuesday, almost half of the workforce in the Lekkerland logistics center in Borna (Leipzig district) had been on strike since early morning.

Borna / Leipzig - The wage level in Saxony is significantly lower, salaries and wages must “finally be increased significantly, said Verdi's negotiator, Jörg Lauenroth-Mago.

The union is calling for one euro more per hour worked and 70 euros more per month for apprentices and a Saxon surcharge, retrospectively from May and until the end of April 2022. According to Lauenroth-Mago, further strikes are planned until the next round of negotiations on November 5.
