The SPD in the Kiel state parliament wants to legally establish the quality of education at all-day schools after a broad social dialogue.
Education politician Martin Habersaat called for this to happen well before 2026 in Kiel on Tuesday.
Background: From the school year 2026/2027 onwards, every child in Germany can claim a full-time place in the first four school years.
Kiel - In order to develop this claim, Habersaat demanded a real, and not just formal, nationwide dialogue with all relevant stakeholders.
In his view, in addition to the central municipal associations and the responsible ministries, this also includes parents, youth welfare organizations, clubs and associations.
Then, after a concept has been drawn up, the quality of the all-day school must be ensured by law.
A key point will be the space that education should take up when the children spend the whole day in schools.
In a state parliament debate in September, the SPD and the Greens emphasized the educational aspect, while the CDU spoke of all-day care.
