North Korea today (Tuesday) conducted a test of a submarine-launched ballistic missile off its east coast, South Korean and Japanese officials said, in a launch that overshadows the opening of a large arms fair in Seoul.

Pyongyang has conducted a long series of trials in recent months in its advanced missile arsenal, despite the international sanctions imposed on its nuclear program.

The heads of intelligence of the United States, South Korea and Japan are due to meet in Seoul today, after yesterday special envoys of the United States and South Korea were scheduled to meet in Washington to discuss tensions with North Korea.
