The new delta subspecies Ay4.2 was detected today (Tuesday) in a child with corona who came to Israel from Moldova.
The Ministry of Health will hold a discussion to see if it is more contagious or deadly than the original Delta strain.
At the beginning of this week's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett noted the number of critically ill patients with the corona virus, which dropped significantly over the weekend, and said it could be said "with caution that we are winning the delta wave."
He stressed that this is not the end of the treatment of the virus, and that the government is preparing for the "Omega", a code name for a new variant that may break out in the future, as well as for the flu with the advent of winter.
