Today, the Turkish regime authorities arrested 97 people under the pretext of their association with the preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom the authorities of Recep Tayyip Erdogan accuse of being behind the coup attempt in the country in 2016.
The Anadolu Agency, the Turkish regime’s spokeswoman, quoted a security source as saying that “the Public Prosecution Office in Izmir issued arrest warrants for 158 people, noting that 97 of them are active-duty soldiers and military school students, who were arrested during search operations in 41 provinces on suspicion of having links with the Gülen organization.”
In the same context, public prosecutors in northwest Balıkesir issued arrest warrants against 46 people, including seven service soldiers and a police officer on the same pretext, and operations were launched in this regard.
Erdogan's regime continues its crackdown campaigns against its opponents in various Turkish cities and regions. Over the past years, thousands of civilians and military personnel have been arrested, in addition to the dismissal or suspension of about 150,000 workers in the government, the army, the judiciary, education and other institutions.
