Three residents of Jerusalem were arrested two days ago in the affair

Three Jerusalem residents were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the boy Nissim Sheetrit's absence in 1986 and the murder of Avraham Deri in 1990.

After the arrest of the three suspects, two men and a woman in their 60s, they were transferred for questioning to the Central Unit in the Jerusalem District.

Two of the suspects are members of Rabbi Eliezer Berland's "Shuvu Banim" congregation.

Later in the day, the three will be brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for a hearing on the issue of extending their detention, which the police intend to request.

The police said that in accordance with the developments of the investigation, further arrests in the case are expected later.

One of Rabbi Berland's followers confessed to the murder

A few months before the disappearance of Sheetrit, who was 17 at the time of the incident and whose body was never found, he was abducted from the yeshiva in Ashdod where he was studying, and beaten by the chastity guard, who threatened him not to go out with girls he knew in his capital.

He later met a man named Mike, with whom he hung out for about a week, until his traces disappeared after a meeting the two held in central Jerusalem.

Police suspected that the man was a messenger of the chastity shift, who decided to kill him and hide his body, but he fled to the Netherlands the year Sheetrit disappeared.
