In the holiday month of August, tourism in Saxony-Anhalt recovered slightly.
The accommodation establishments received almost 367,000 guests, 2.5 percent more than in the same month last year, as the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday in Halle.
The number of overnight stays rose by 5.0 percent to 985,000.
After a long corona-related forced break, the accommodation providers had the opportunity to receive private travelers again in August for the third month in a row.
Halle - Looking at the entire period from January to August, however, there were significant losses compared to the same period of the previous year.
The number of guests was almost a quarter (minus 24.7 percent) lower at 1.15 million, while the number of overnight stays was almost a fifth (minus 18 percent) lower at 3.31 million.

In August, hotels booked 9.3 percent more guests and 10.1 percent more guests, as it was said.
Recreational and holiday homes booked 1.5 percent fewer guests than in the same month last year, but 17.5 percent more overnight stays.
The campsites, which were very popular in the previous year, suffered significant losses of minus 19.6 percent for guests and minus 11.0 percent for overnight stays.
At the holiday centers, the number of guests rose by 10.5 percent and the number of overnight stays by 19.2 percent.
And the training centers also grew strongly: in the case of guests by 22.3 percent, in terms of overnight stays by 14.9 percent.
According to statistics, 94.2 percent of the guests came from within Germany in August.
Around 21,100 guests came from abroad.
That was 12.8 percent more than in August 2020.
Overall, fewer accommodation providers were open in August than a year earlier: the number fell from 1121 to 1095.
Accommodation establishments with ten or more beds and campsites with ten or more parking spaces were recorded.
