Transporter driver with trailer without tires stopped on A20

The autobahn police in north-west Mecklenburg stopped a van driver on autobahn 20 whose trailer was only driving on a metal rim.

As a police spokesman explained on Tuesday, attentive motorists noticed on Sunday not far from Bobitz near Schönberg that the trailer had a strong list on the right and the metal rim was already sparking.

Bobitz - The alerted police officers heard the squeaky vehicle combination before they even saw it, the spokesman said.

They stopped the 55-year-old driver, who wanted more than 300 kilometers to go to Poland, and led him to a parking lot.

Although the man had a driver's license, he had no authorization to drive a trailer at all.

The total weight of the vehicle combination was more than 3.5 tons.

So the trailer had to stand uncoupled in the motorway parking lot, the investigation was ongoing.
