The authorities in the US state of Florida announced today that members of the local police killed a teenager who was carrying a gun who was aiming it at people, cars and police officers.
Tarpon Springs Police Chief Jeffrey Young said, “We have received reports of a teenager roaming a crowded street with a gun aimed at cars and people,” Tarpon Springs Police Chief Jeffrey Young said. Point the gun at them.
Police identified the young man as Alexander King, a 17-year-old teenager at Tarpon Springs High School, and the teenager was declared dead in hospital, while it was not clear if he fired any shots from the gun he was carrying.
Young noted that the boy has 22 precedents with law enforcement and that the officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid leave under the county's policy while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and other agencies are investigating.
Shooting incidents are common in the United States with the spread of a culture of violence in American society and the right to own a single gun.
