A man is said to have killed her in an argument, both of whom had previously drunk alcohol.

In court the question arises: what happened that night?

Gera - Because he is said to have strangled a woman in her apartment in Greiz, a 41-year-old has to answer before the district court of Gera since Tuesday. The public prosecutor said he had drunk alcohol with the 60-year-old on a February night, and then there was an argument. In the course of this, he strangled the woman after she hit him with a hammer. While choking, he realized that she was going to die - and carried on anyway. The trained carpenter is accused of manslaughter.

While the accused initially wanted to remain silent on the allegations on the first day of the trial, the court reconstructed the night using police logs and emergency call recordings. He himself dialed the emergency number and stated that the woman had died of a heart attack in the course of a dispute. The photos showed how the body of the 60-year-old was lying between empty beer cans and liquor bottles on the floor of the small one-room apartment - next to her a hammer.

When the police arrived, the man was nervous, a breath alcohol test showed 2.69 per mille.

Sentences are said to have been uttered like: "I am a soldier, I will not allow myself to be treated like that, I still want to finish my bottle." He was arrested the same night.

Two blood samples were also arranged, which showed values of over two per thousand around five hours after the emergency call.

However, the doctors in the hospital had not recognized any external signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the man's alcohol level at the time of the crime did not reduce his guilt.

If convicted of manslaughter, they face at least five years in prison.

Six more days of negotiations are scheduled for the trial until the end of November (Az. 1 Ks 120 Js 5976/21).
