"I saw survival with my daughter and was ashamed" Israel today

2021-10-20T11:11:13.216Z

Not a child's game: from the outrageous remarks about Michael Lewis, through the departure of the ethnic demon to the election of a strong leader • "Survival" is dangerous for children to watch, and this is not the first time this has happened • Opinion

The opening of the new season of "Survival" shows everything that is broken in our society.

She puts in front the racism and all the stereotypes we have been trying to get rid of for years, so before you allow your boys and girls to watch this reality you should think twice.

It's no secret that media has a significant part to play in shaping our lives.

It brings a certain picture of reality that is not objective, and this is perceived by the viewers as true and affects their lives.

"Survival" does just that.

Even if it is an entertainment program, there is a danger that our children who do not yet know how to watch intelligently and distinguish between good and bad, right and wrong, and they may see a program of this kind, think that way and adopt such behaviors.

The facilitator asked to select leaders.

Let's dive deeper and start with the facilitator in the opening chapter who seeks to choose a leader, and reiterates that leaders are needed.

Speaking of leaders, no woman at first chose to join Lia's group.

Maayan Ashkenazi even said aloud what others did not say "It was important to me to be in the tribe with strong men."

They all wanted a strong and masculine leader, or as one participant pointed out: a leader for him is a kind of military man.

Leadership according to participants and survivors is still perceived as forceful, strong and masculine.

When Kobe Maor decided to switch teams and move from Lia's team to Dudu Awat's, Jackie said confidently that Lia should have taken him by the hand and returned him by force.

Again, the power element stands out here at its peak.

And now imagine an eight-, nine- or ten-year-old boy or girl seeing this, what do they understand?

What are they learning?

How do they perceive the figure of their leaders?

In one of the missions, Jackie says, "What, it's not boys'?"

I mean, losing to a daughter is humiliating but if she is training Olympic, it is less humiliating.

And now we come to the part where we talk about the middle ground.

If men were talking about women like that, everyone would be shouting and talking about harassment, but when Lisa talks about Michael Lewis, and that she wants to be in his gang just because he's handsome or in a word, 'I asked him to take off his shirt for a moment,' it somehow passes in silence. .

Is it a coincidence that on the return mission the women were sent to a "sand bath" that was unsurprisingly reminiscent of the mud baths?

Is it a coincidence that they were sent to a "cat fight" as one of the participants put it?

In the third episode, Ohad Buzaglo announced "Why bring beautiful women? To have fun for the eyes."

Jackie was furious with tears at Buzaglo's outrageous remark that he wants to be with another woman every day and sees women as objects, while the other friends are silent and let her fight the battle in which they both rage with anger, each defending his position fiercely.

What Buzaglo said may sound bad, may not be politically correct, but true.

This is especially emphasized in reality shows, but also in the rest of the television media where there is still an emphasis on a female beauty model, but there is no pickiness about a male beauty model.

Gender reversal.

Apparently in the age of ratings, when TV channels are fighting for every voice, programs like Survival will not disappear from the screen.

They will show us all the bad and spoiled things in society, to make us laugh and maybe to make us feel a little better about ourselves that we are not there.

As long as it's them and not us - that's fine, because we're better than them, right?

But what many may not realize is that programs of this kind shape the reality of our children, and in the case of the first episode of Survival all the stereotypes that our society has been trying to shake off since the days of Salah Shabtai have been showcased.

I sat down to watch "Survival" with my 17-year-old daughter, and was embarrassed.

I felt the need to mediate her problematic situations even though she already understands a thing or two and knows how to do the mediation herself.

I kept thinking to myself, do Guy Zoarz's daughters see this, and does he do this mediation for them too?
