500 Christians meet Pope Francis in the Vatican

Around 500 mostly young Protestants and Catholics, mainly from Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, but also from Saxony, will meet Pope Francis in the Vatican in the coming week. They are participants in the joint ecumenical campaign “With Luther to the Pope” of the Diocese of Magdeburg, the Evangelical Church of Anhalt of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM), as the EKM announced on Wednesday.

They are participants in the joint ecumenical campaign “With Luther to the Pope” of the Diocese of Magdeburg, the Evangelical Church of Anhalt of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM), as the EKM announced on Wednesday.

Magdeburg / Erfurt / Dresden - According to the information, they will be on their way to Rome on Saturday.

The itinerary also includes a trip to Castel Gandolfo to the papal residence on Lake Albano.

There will be a joint service there with Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, it said.

On Sunday, the project “With Luther to the Pope” was awarded the Ecumenical Prize of the Working Group of Christian Churches.
