A 78-year-old man was killed on Wednesday when a car collided with a truck on a federal highway in Bretten.
The man had been sitting in the car of a 77-year-old who had overlooked the oncoming truck during an overtaking maneuver that afternoon.
The two of them also crashed into a third vehicle after the collision.
Bauerbach - The 78-year-old was trapped and died at the scene of the accident, the police said.
The one year younger pensioner at the wheel suffered serious injuries, the 54-year-old driver of the third car was slightly injured.
