A British citizen called the municipal police station and asked for a police car to arrive at his home, to evacuate the stinking chicken he had bought at the supermarket.
In a conversation that the police published, which lasted two minutes and 20 seconds, the man explained that they packed the chicken with Parmesan cheese, and the cheese stuck to the chicken - so it stinks.
"I'm calling you because I do not think the writer will take the chicken back, so the police should do it."
The call was published as part of an information campaign by the Thames Valley Police in the UK, with the aim of making it clear to its citizens in which cases they should refrain from calling the police - in light of call loads on its emergency lines.
The policewoman who received the call tried to suggest a number of solutions, such as throwing the chicken in the bin or taking it out of the house.
To this the man replied: "I can not leave the chicken at home because it will soil my tin and stink it. I am also afraid to leave it in the neighborhood in a bag, because rats will open the bag, eat the chicken and spread bacteria throughout the neighborhood. I think the only solution is That you will come here and free the chicken. "
At this point the policewoman suggested: "Maybe pack the chicken in several bags together, so that the rats will not open the bags. I think this is a good way to deal with the problem."
But the man also rejected this solution, saying: "I can not do it, because the municipality empties the bins in the area only on Wednesday, and it will stink terribly in the meantime."
At this point the policewoman despaired, and determined that this was a civilian rather than a police problem - therefore the police would not be able to assist.
