Grünwald - Three years ago Julia Gasser (35) from Grünwald received a terrible diagnosis.

She was seriously ill with blood cancer.

At the beginning of April, she got the stem cells transplanted by infusion and is now quite healthy again.

Motivation to donate blood

In this way she also wants to give all patients the confidence and hope that the disease does not have to mean the end of life.

She also hopes that as many people as possible register to donate blood.

Long weeks of worry

In 2018 Julia Gasser met her difficult fate.

I developed leukemia and her only hope of a cure was a stem cell transplant.

A donor had to be found for this.

After long weeks of worrying, the doctors were actually able to find a suitable genetic twin in the global database.

His name is Marco, he is 30 years old and for a long time did not even know who the donation was.

Everything was completely anonymous.

My husband Manuel was with me on the day of the transplant and we knew everything would be fine. "

Her husband Manuel had secretly arranged the meeting, so that the 35-year-old had no inkling of this meeting.

She thought friends would come over for a barbecue.

“I was expecting someone else, a family of friends.

Suddenly Marco was standing in our garden with his wonderful family.

I couldn't believe my luck. "

Feeling of familiarity

The families had previously exchanged photos, which is why Julia Gasser already knew the faces.
