Following the crushing opposition of the State Attorney's Office - the Central District Court decided to accept her appeal, and cancel the early release of the prisoner Rabbi Ezra Sheinberg.
In doing so, he overturned the decision of the August Parole Board, which did order his release. As a result, Sheinberg will remain in prison for at least another six months, at which point he will be able to seek a hearing before the Parole Board again.
As mentioned, last August, the parole board decided to release Scheinberg early, after six years.
Sheinberg, who headed the Orot Hari community in Safed, was convicted of committing serious sexual offenses with eight women, and was sent to seven-and-a-half years in prison.
The prosecution has appealed the decision, arguing that the sentence should not be shortened, and there is no room for release after a third reduction.
Among other things, the claim was that the prisoner did not take responsibility for his actions.
Sheinberg, who served as a community rabbi and head of the Orot Hari yeshiva in Safed, was convicted in 2018 of two counts of attempted rape, six counts of indecent assault, three counts of indecent assault, attempted rape and obstruction of justice. Sentence.
