Authorities in India and Nepal reported today (Wednesday) that the death toll from the huge floods that hit the countries stands at 150 people.
Tens of thousands were evacuated from their homes after being flooded.
The floods occurred in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India as well as in the state of Kerala in the south of the subcontinent.
Thirty of the victims were killed in a series of mudslides in Nainital County, Uttar Pradesh.
Some villages have been completely wiped out under the current of water and mud, the fear is that the death toll will rise as the search for survivors continues.

According to an AFP news agency, five members of one family were killed when their home was wiped out by a mudslide, among the dead was a three-year-old boy.
In Nepal, the death toll rose to 77 after 33 bodies were found today in a search of a village hit by a mudslide in the southeast of the mountainous country, near the Indian border.
Authorities in Kathmandu have announced that at least 26 people are still missing.
In addition to the mudslides, severe floods have covered large cities in northern India with water and there is a fear that some large river dams will collapse.

The Indian Meteorological Service predicts that the heavy rains will continue for the next day, which increases the risk of further floods and mudslides.
Schools in some states in northern India have been closed and citizens are being evacuated in the low-lying areas.
One hundred tourists, most of them from European countries, got stuck when the river Cossi overflowed and cut off a popular resort from the road system.
