Landsberg - The Bachl group of companies based in Röhrnbach (Freyung-Grafenau district) wants to expand its production facilities at the Friedheim location with a robotics hall and additional storage space. At the same time, a total of 32 new apartments for employees are to be built in two buildings near the company premises. Mayor Doris Baumgartl and the city council recently visited the plant in the south of Landsberg to present the project.

Group managing director Michael Küblbeck presented the company that was founded in Röhrnbach (Bavarian Forest) in 1926 as a brickworks in its current form: “We employ around 2,800 people at a total of 29 locations in eight European countries.

In addition to the German production sites, our group includes factories and commercial branches in Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania and Croatia. "

Insulation production and plastics processing, the areas of building materials, construction elements and precast concrete parts production as well as services in civil engineering, road construction, turnkey industrial and commercial construction form the main Bachl business areas.

The insulation technology plant in Friedheim belongs to Karl Bachl Kunststoffverarbeitung GmbH & Co.KG.

In 2013 Bachl took over the location from the Schwenk company and has continuously expanded and modernized it since then.

Around 140 employees produce insulation materials here, mainly for roofs and facades.

In recent years there has been continuous investment in Friedheim, among other things in the renovation of the existing buildings and in fire protection.

In addition, sustainability is at the top of the Bachl agenda, says Küblbeck.

The company is one of the largest recycling specialists for Styrofoam insulation materials in Germany and has state-of-the-art technical facilities in Friedheim.

This makes a significant contribution to the protection of the environment and resources, which is also in line with the objectives of the City of Landsberg.

Architect Manfred Huber (Schondorf) presented the current expansion plans to the Landsberg city council: “The new buildings planned on the east side in the direction of the B17 mainly increase the storage capacities for the insulation blocks. A hall with an area of 7,500 square meters, an open-air warehouse (1,200 m²) and a finished goods warehouse (5,600 m²) are to be created. ”In the new hall, the insulation materials are automatically stored and retrieved. Bachl is already practicing this robotics principle at other locations. It optimizes the production processes and the picking of the goods. The architects have also adapted the traffic concept on the factory premises accordingly in order to shorten loading times.

Another topic in the discussion with the city council were the two new buildings, each with 16 apartments of different sizes, which are to be built opposite the plant.

“Getting personnel for our production is currently a challenge.

If you can offer living space in addition to workplaces, the search is easier, ”says the group manager optimistically.

Overall, the expansion concept in this way offers good conditions for creating additional jobs in Friedheim.

The next step is the discussion of the Bachl plans in the city council.

As early as the coming week, the plenum is to decide on the establishment of the “Isotex-Straße” development plan and, at the same time, to initiate changes to the land use plan.
