160 jobs, at least 23.4 million euros, but almost no electricity consumption: the extension to the Starnberg District Office will be inaugurated at the end of the week and will go into operation in mid-November.

The building committee of the district council inspected the new building - and was amazed.

Starnberg

- You don't notice where you leave the old building of the Starnberg District Office and enter the new building. There are still differences between the year of construction 1986 and the year of construction 2021, but the visitor has to look very carefully. On the railings, for example, or the wood, which is lighter than in the old building. Still, because it will get darker over the years. District Administrator Stefan Frey is enraptured by the extension that caused so much trouble and headlines, especially Frey's predecessor Karl Roth. By the way, Frey chatted on a tour of the new building, didn't want to move, but instead wanted to stay in his office in the old building. Today's district administrator would have liked to move, but: "I won't do that to our spatial planner."which are currently still distributed in branch offices in the city. The extension will be inaugurated on Friday and will go into operation in mid-November.

Frey is “really enthusiastic” about the extension, praised the many improvements that are usually not seen, and spoke of “one of the most beautiful district offices in Bavaria and Germany”. What matters more to the planners are the inner values of the building. Hans-Michael Lemmer, project manager in the district office, and Dominik Fahr from the Auer Weber Architects office, which had already realized the old building, showed the district councilors through the house and showed the special features. For example the solar system on the roof, which generates so much electricity that the cultivation is almost climate-neutral. Or the heat supply, which is based on groundwater, which circulates through pipes in the ceilings, can be regulated for each room and also cools in the summer with cold water in the ceiling. Or the double floor on the first floor, under which all lines run and in which there are even smoke detectors to be on the safe side. The construction is adapted to that of the old building, concrete and wood, but everything a bit more modern - also because of the fire protection. “A district office from a single source,” says Fahr.

The moves begin at the end of the month

The extension will offer 160 workplaces, as well as ancillary rooms such as kitchens and meeting rooms, but for the first time also parliamentary group rooms for the district council.

Frey believes that the quality of stay is higher.

The district office also wants to offer something in the competition between the authorities for employees.

Innovation and economy are in the details: for example, there are hot water dispensers in kitchens, the power-guzzling kettle has had its day.

From October 29, around 70 employees of the youth welfare office will move into the extension (currently Moosstrasse), followed by around 30 employees from the environmental department (currently Tutzinger-Hof-Platz).

Some departments from the old building are also moving in - the old building is currently almost overcrowded.

Even meeting rooms have been converted into offices.

The district currently has 572 employees.

And what did the cultivation cost now?

The approved framework of 23.4 million euros is still valid after the two and a half year construction period.

But by no means all the work has been settled, which is why the final construction cost is not known.

The extension will be officially inaugurated on Friday afternoon, and there will be tours for members of the district council on October 29th.

Work is still going on on the outside, but inside almost everything is finished.
