CDU leader Armin Laschet has called on his party to do constructive opposition work in the Bundestag.
That means not becoming shrill, loud and populist, but showing alternatives in order to be able to govern again in four years at the latest, said Laschet on Wednesday in Goslar, Lower Saxony.
There the party chairman gave a keynote address on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

The first federal party conference of the Christian Democrats took place in the city in October 1950.
The ceremony last year was canceled due to the pandemic.
Also a year late, the Christian Democrats in Goslar celebrated that the CDU regional associations from West and East united in October 1990 as part of German unity to form the CDU of Germany as a whole.

A successor for Schmidt, who headed the court for 16 years, has not yet been determined.
