Protest leaders met with health minister and reached agreements • Dr. Ray Bitton: "The minister was attentive to our plight, led the necessary change and anchored it so that the Israeli government is committed to shortening shifts" "

The protest of the interns and interns has come to an end:

Dr. Ray Bitton, chairman of the interns' organization "Prescription" announced today (Wednesday) that the representatives of the protest met with Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz and reached agreements.

"Our just struggle was successful, the interns won, and in the end with Israel he won because he would receive better medicine. We put an end to 26-hour shifts," Bitton said excitedly, adding: "I agreed with the health minister on all the details and I want to thank him, "To our adversity, which bravely led the necessary change and anchored it so that the Israeli government is committed to shortening shifts. No more talking in silence, no more 'right but ...', this is a historic change that will affect thousands of interns and hundreds of thousands of patients."

On the outline that was agreed upon, she said: "There are two main collateral, there is a framework in which things are written and detailed. They said the outline is amorphous, we got an implementation team that we will take part in and it seems everything is going in the right direction and will not dissolve."

She later thanked Economy Minister Orna Barbii and the protesters for their cooperation: "We were terrorized, campaigned against us, defamed us, tried to silence us. Our victory today is also over all these, all those who tried to harm us and our struggle, all those who did not have enough strength. The jarring eyes, however, also made actual attempts to hurt and thwart this historic move.

"Even though everything was closed and we were told it was, it is impossible to change anymore, we did not give up, we knew it was possible. Following the continuation of our struggle, Minister Horowitz presented us two days ago with an expanded and improved outline. Really, I'm proud.

The shorthand revolution has begun.

And this is just the opening shot for an even greater change in working conditions and service for patients in hospitals.

With the big budget increase, the addition of thousands of new nursing and medical students, and the shortening of shifts to interns, oxygen is finally flowing into our public health system.
