The former Colombian guerrilla of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) denounced Tuesday, October 19 the arrest in Mexico of one of its leaders, at the request of Bogotá to Interpol, according to this movement, today a political party.

Rodrigo Granda, known as the chief diplomat of the ex-Marxist guerrilla, was arrested in Mexico City on the basis of a “red notice” from Interpol, said deputies Carlos Lozada and Pablo Catatumbo, leaders of the Comunes party. resulting from the peace agreement with the ex-guerrillas in 2016.

Rodrigo Granda was one of the peace negotiators in Havana, a process that began in 2012 and culminated in the historic 2016 peace agreement, followed by the disarmament of the FARC.

The incident comes just over a month before the fifth anniversary of the agreement signed at the time between the guerrillas and President Juan Manuel Santos, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2016.

Colombia has seen a worrying increase in violence in several regions of the country in recent months, where numerous armed groups are rife, including FARC dissidents who reject the 2016 agreement and have resumed arms.
