The corona situation in Germany is picking up speed again.

The incidence has been rising for a week - and the number of cases does not bode well either.

Berlin - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported a 7-day incidence of 80.4 on Wednesday.

The previous day the value was 75.1, a week ago it was 65.4 (previous month: 71.0).

The incidence rose in Germany for the seventh day in a row.

Compared to the previous week, the number of new coronavirus infections has also increased significantly: 17,015 corona cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

A week ago there were 5,112 fewer positive corona tests, namely 11,903.

According to the RKI, another 92 deaths were recorded.

A week ago there were also 92 deaths.

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, 4,401,631 people in Germany have been shown to have been infected with Sars-CoV-2.

The RKI indicates the number of those who have recovered at 4,174,400

Corona in Germany - Incidence of Hospitalization

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days - the most important parameter for a possible tightening of the corona restrictions - was given by the RKI on Tuesday as 2.13 (Monday 1.92).

A nationwide threshold value from when the situation can be viewed critically is not provided for the incidence of hospitalization, among other things because of large regional differences.

The previous high was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

End the corona emergency

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn wants to let the corona emergency in Germany expire in November.

The continuation of the epidemic situation was last decided in August by the Bundestag for a further three months.

The advance by Spahn met with a divided echo.

The epidemic situation is the basis for ordinances and central corona measures in Germany.

It was first established by the Bundestag in March 2020 and later extended several times by Parliament.

Spahn had spoken out on Monday in consultations with the health ministers of the federal states that there would be no renewed extension.

This would mean that the nationwide Corona emergency would expire on November 25th.
