Prague (Czech Republic) - The corona situation in the Czech Republic is noticeably worsening again.

Now the government is imposing stricter measures.

After more than twice as many cases were reported on Tuesday with 3246 new infections as in the previous week, 1.7 million people have now been infected since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Czech Republic has a total of 10.7 million inhabitants.

As early as the beginning of 2021, the Czech Republic recorded the highest number of infections and deaths per capita worldwide for several weeks.

A similar situation is now to be avoided with a package of measures.

The Czech government imposes a number of measures:

  • Restaurants, clubs and discos must check their guests' vaccination certificates, corona tests or evidence of recovery from Covid-19

  • Corona tests are no longer available free of charge and are only valid for a shorter period

  • From next week, it will be compulsory to wear mouth and nose protection indoors, including at work

Corona in the Czech Republic: vaccination campaign should be relaunched

Above all, by shortening the validity of the test, the faltering vaccination campaign should get going again.

The situation also deteriorated in neighboring Slovakia.

There, the number of Covid 19 patients treated in the hospital has now exceeded the thousand mark.

In Russia, President Putin announced a week-long day off - the reason here too, the rising corona numbers.
