Customs dog Emilia found around 90,000 smuggled cigarettes in Neustadt-Dosse (Ostprignitz-Ruppin district).
By securing the illegal cigarettes, a tax loss of almost 18,000 euros was prevented, said a spokesman for the main customs office in Potsdam on Wednesday.
Officials had previously checked a place known for the illegal cigarette trade.
Neustadt-Dosse - When a conspicuous cyclist came from a nearby forest, the police had the customs dog Emilia look for cigarettes.
The animal discovered ten packages with a total of 89,600 contraband cigarettes in different places.
The illegal goods were seized.
At first it was not possible to determine who the cigarettes belong to.
