Maj. Gen. Rassan Aliyan, the government's coordinator of operations in the territories, announced today (Wednesday) an increase in the number of Gazan traders passing through the Erez crossing, by another 3,000.
The move, which was decided by Defense Minister Bnei Gantz, was accepted despite the GSS 'reservations.
The total quota is 10,000 people.
The permits will be issued to Corona vaccinated and recovering only.
The measures will take effect starting tomorrow, October 21st.
The decision to increase the quota of merchants was made by the political echelon, following a security assessment that took place on the issue.
All civilian measures towards the Gaza Strip are conditional on the continued maintenance of security stability over time, and their expansion will be examined in accordance with the assessment of the situation.
