Peter-Ording - The people in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg have to expect heavy gusts of wind on Thursday.
Occasional gale-force gusts cannot be ruled out on the coasts, said meteorologist Julia Schmidt from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Wednesday.
In the inland the gusts still reached wind force 9 to 10, i.e. 75 to 90 km / h.
It is the first full-blown autumn storm of the year in Germany.
The DWD had already forecast rainy and stormy weather for Wednesday.
From the afternoon on, there could be individual strong thunderstorms with squalls, especially north of the Kiel Canal.
Heavy squalls and heavy rain are also likely.
The temperatures are a maximum of 16 degrees on the islands and 19 degrees in Hamburg and Lauenburg.

The water levels on the North Sea coast and in the Elbe were already above the mean flood on Wednesday.
According to a forecast by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, they will also be higher than usual on Thursday and Friday.
There could be a storm surge at the St. Pauli gauge on Thursday.
The apex is expected shortly after 6 p.m.
The high water mark could also be reached in Hamburg on Friday morning and afternoon, it said.

The Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei (WDR) announced on its website that the Hallig Hooge would no longer be approached on Wednesday due to the storm low.
