Dorfen - The news spread quickly: The entrepreneur couple Fritz and Manuela Rampeltshammer are retiring and closing their sports store in Dorfen at Haager Strasse 62. The dismay was great.

“The bulkheads will be closed on April 1, 2022,” explains the businesswoman.

At the same time, she assures: “It will continue, it's our turn.” She does not yet reveal who will be her successor.

It is "a good, old friend".

More will be announced in about two months.

Originally, the couple had run a renowned shoe store in Taufkirchen and opened a branch in Dorfen in 1997. Since then, they have felt a close bond with Isenstadt. “We used to have customers who came to us from Dorfen in Taufkirchen. It is important to us that the sports shop for Dorfen continues and that our staff has a perspective, ”both emphasize. Because there are many regular customers and long-term, reliable employees. “We have sales women who have been with us for almost 30 years,” they proudly emphasize.

Now it's going to the autumn sales and then the winter sales under the motto “We're celebrating the last autumn.” They want to do something good for the customers, so there will be many discounts and interesting bargains. No slow-moving. “The new goods were ordered in advance by January. The shop has to be empty on April 1st, ”report the Rampeltshammers. This means that the inventory is also for sale at the end.

The couple can look back on a long tradition as a family business. Great-grandfather Michael Rampeltshammer opened a bicycle shop on Landshuter Strasse in Taufkirchen, next to today's Sparkassenhaus, 120 years ago. From this the shoe business developed over the years. The trained bank clerk Manuela Rampeltshammer and her husband Fritz, a trained retail salesman, took over the shop in 1981, the year they married. Getting into business was easy for her. “I enjoyed it and also brought it all in,” says the spirited entrepreneur. It was always especially nice in Taufkirchen at the Adlberger Markt. “You always had a nice smack and a good turnover,” they both fondly remember.

But the rooms in the parent company became too small over the years, and the range could no longer be stored and presented accordingly. That is why the two were happy to seize the opportunity presented to them in 1997 when Lothar Schmid was looking for a successor for his shoe and sports shop at Haager Strasse 1 in Dorfen. For a while the Rampeltshammers drove in two directions, then they closed the parent company, much to the regret of their many Taufkirchen customers, and concentrated on the larger business in Dorfen.

In 2012 they had another chance to improve. A new shopping center was opened on the Galgenwiese and they were given the prospect of modern rooms next to clothing, drugstore and grocery chains with lots of parking spaces in front of the door. The then 52-year-old and the 57-year-old grabbed it and signed a ten-year lease.

Over the decades, “there have been ups and downs,” they admit. The trade is always changing. “We are in a good position, the sales are good. We survived Corona without any problems. On the contrary, we were happy that we were able to slow down a bit, ”they look back on the pandemic. They emphasize that for reasons of age they are quitting and because the contract is about to expire. Their own children, a son and a daughter, never had the ambition to follow in their parents' footsteps.

When you look back on 40 years of professional experience, you also remember funny episodes.

Once a customer wanted to buy underpants, says Manuela Rampeltshammer.

He tried them on in the changing room, then came out and asked them for their expert look: "I was perplexed." Her husband was more amused when a customer approached him about a "swinger ski".

"She meant a carver," he explains the misunderstanding.

Of course, one doesn't like to give up a well-established business.

Especially since the couple knows that many regular customers are sad about it.

You will also miss your employees, who always stood by your side, took responsibility and made independent decisions when necessary.

But the joy of more time outweighs it.

Manuela Rampeltshammer would like to expand her foreign language skills and take a sewing course.

Your Fritz is looking forward to the new garden, because the two have moved and now live next to their son, daughter-in-law and grandson.

There he will grow tomatoes and herbs because he is a passionate cook.

You also want to do more with your two grandchildren, as well as many longer trips with the motorhome as a couple.

Because that was never possible in the past decades.

And then they want to finish renovating the main building in Taufkirchen, where they lived until recently.

They shouldn't get bored for now.
