The teams of Fairoza and As-Suwayda workers performed well during their participation in the second division championship for women’s football that took place recently in Damascus, with the participation of 11 teams divided into three groups, where they finished in the second and third places, respectively.
Fairoza came in second place after losing to Al-Khabour 1-0 in the final match, to crown the latter with the championship title.
Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Homs Sports Federation, Faisal Al-Darbi, in a statement to the SANA Sports Bulletin, drew attention to the good performance and competitive spirit enjoyed by his team, which led him to the final of the tournament, explaining that female football has recently witnessed a remarkable development in Syria in general and in Homs in particular.
The As-Suwayda workers team came in third place after defeating El-Araby on penalties after the end of the original time of the match in a tie, knowing that it won the first round over Quneitra Governorate 5-0 and Ali El-Araby 1-0 and lost in the semi-finals against Fairoza 0-2.
The coach of the Suwayda workers, Wissam Dawara, indicated that his team was formed last year, and it was his first participation in the championship, indicating that this year the team succeeded in winning an advanced position after gradually developing the level of the players and presenting them at a good level.
