The news of the bankruptcy of the regional airport burst during the parliamentary autumn break.

Now the opposition is taking position.

The Ministry of the Interior has also announced a report.

Mainz - The insolvency proceedings for Hahn Airport will become a major topic in the state parliament in Rhineland-Palatinate after the autumn break.

All three opposition factions reported an urgent need for speech and education.

The Rhineland-Palatinate state government, led by the Interior Ministry, had sold its majority stake in the former US military airport in Hunsrück in 2017 for 15 million euros to the large Chinese group HNA.

A minority stake of 17.5 percent is still held by the State of Hesse.

The bankruptcy filing is causing a stir there too.

The FDP in the Hessian state parliament requested a special meeting of the budget committee.

The CDU in Mainz wants to make the Hahn insolvency in three state parliament committees on the topic, as a parliamentary group spokesman announced on Wednesday.

Corresponding motions for the interior, legal and economic committee have already been submitted or are in preparation, said the spokesman.

"Further parliamentary formats will be decided in the coming week."

Greens do not expect a special session of the state parliament on the budget

The parliamentary special session on the budget in mid-October, suggested by the parliamentary group chairmen of Red-Red-Green, may not take place.

"It looks like this at the moment," said the leader of the Greens, Astrid Rothe-Beinlich, on Thursday in Dachwig (Gotha district).

The draft budget, which the government intends to present on October 5, will probably only be discussed in the regular state parliament session at the end of October.

Final Bundestag election result: no postponements

The review of the Bundestag election results in Rhineland-Palatinate has shown only minor shifts compared to the preliminary result.

Neither the voter turnout nor the percentages of the parties have changed, the state election committee announced on Friday after a meeting in Mainz.

Only the number of eligible voters and the invalid and valid votes should have been made minor corrections.

On Tuesday, the AfD parliamentary group applied for the issue to be placed on the agenda of the interior committee.

The Free Voter Group said: "The Ministry of the Interior now urgently needs to provide answers."

The ministry in question wants to report on the insolvency proceedings at the next meeting of the Interior Committee, as State Secretary Randolf Stich announced on Wednesday in a letter to State Parliament President Hendrik Hering (both SPD).

The next regular meeting of the committee is scheduled for December 2nd.

So far, the state parliament has not received a motion to convene a special session.

The approval of a third of the committee members is required for this.

The next plenary session of the state parliament will take place on November 10th and 11th.
