President Yitzhak Herzog announced today (Tuesday) the initiative to establish the "Israeli Climate Forum".
This is ahead of the climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland, which will open in early November.
President Herzog has decided to appoint former Knesset member Dov Hanin to chair the forum whose activities will be conducted with the organization "Life and Environment", the umbrella organization of organizations working in this field.
"The establishment of the forum will mark the State of Israel's commitment to being at the forefront of the global debate on the issue of the climate crisis, will raise awareness of the crisis issue and its severity among the Israeli leadership in all its forms," the presidential statement said.
