The city of Nuremberg calls for flu vaccination.

Comprehensive influenza protection for the population is particularly important in times of the corona pandemic.

Nuremberg - Mayor Marcus König had himself vaccinated against the flu on Tuesday (October 19) and at the same time called on all Nuremberg residents * to do the same.

As the city writes in a press release, nationwide influenza protection for the population is important, especially in times of the corona pandemic *.

The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) recommends flu protection in particular for people over 60, people with chronic underlying diseases or an increased risk of virus flu.

The vaccination should take place annually in late autumn, i.e. between mid-October and mid-December.

Nuremberg: Influenza vaccinations not possible in the vaccination centers

Virus flu is an acute infectious disease caused by type A and type B influenza viruses. It primarily affects the respiratory tract and occurs especially in the cold season. Symptoms include a rapidly onset, severe general feeling of illness with fever, chills, headache, sore throat, muscle and body aches, and cough. It can also lead to pneumonia and, in rare cases, to encephalitis. The city advises that vaccinations against influenza are not possible in the city's vaccination centers. There they are only vaccinated against the corona virus. If you get vaccinated against Covid-19, you can also schedule a flu vaccination at short intervals, the city said. General practitioners can get both vaccinations, against the flu and against the coronavirus, administer at the same time.

Nuremberg: City advises flu vaccination

A preventive flu vaccination does not rule out a combination with the Covid-19 vaccines, the city continues.

A 14-day interval, as was previously the case with other vaccinations, such as smallpox or cholera, is not necessary for the common flu vaccinations.

It should be noted that a booster vaccination with a Covid-19 vaccine does not replace a flu vaccination.

The flu vaccination only supplements the immune protection against respiratory diseases.

Doctors recommend influenza protection not only for risk groups.

Healthy people can also be immunized.
