The online petition “Gymnasium Poing JETZT”, which was launched on Tuesday evening, already had over 500 signatures by Wednesday noon.

The initiator is the new interest group.

Poing - The newly founded interest group “Gymnasium Poing JETZT” is putting pressure on it: On Tuesday evening it started an online petition (https://chng.it/p9vKbpBb) to the district council and to District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß with the demand that the school be built to be taken off the waiting list and implemented as soon as possible.

As of Wednesday, 1:20 p.m., the petition had 540 signatures.

As reported several times, the district council has postponed the project for financial reasons.

Although the committee included it in a “master plan for schools” in 2017 and the Ministry of Culture granted approval for its implementation in summer 2018.

But nothing has happened since then.

A circumstance that Andrea Lacour, Veronika Neu and Martina Pillath no longer want to accept.

The women from Poing, themselves mothers of school-age children, started the interest group “Gymnasium Poing NOW” about a week ago.

They demand action from the district or the district council instead of being constantly put off.

Actually, according to the plan of the district (which is responsible as material expense manager for secondary schools), the grammar school should have gone into operation in the school year 2024/25.

The district council, however, has put the project on a waiting list, as has the Grafing vocational school center.

Gymnasium Poing: SPD district parliamentary group makes urgency request

This will be discussed and discussed in the district council meeting on October 25th.

To this end, the SPD district parliamentary group has now made an urgency request with two demands: "The Poing Gymnasium will be removed from the waiting list for the 2022 budget." In his justification, SPD parliamentary group spokesman Albert Hingerl writes that it would be incomprehensible if the grammar school continued to remain on the waiting list: "This approach is not future-oriented and does not do justice to the importance and necessity in the least."

Approval from the Ministry of Culture has been available since 2018

Poing's former mayor Hingerl (he was in office from 2000 to 2020) has been campaigning for years on a political level for the construction of the grammar school in the Lerchenwinkel development area (the property already exists), because this is not only due to the growth of the Poing community, but also the neighboring communities is necessary.

The need for a grammar school for around 1000 pupils is demonstrably given.

Poing's former mayor criticizes inaction

In his letter, Hingerl states on behalf of the SPD district parliamentary group: "Due to financial problems (including corona-related, tax haven Ebersberger Forst), the district council decided on December 14, 2020 to put the grammar school temporarily on the waiting list and set up an investment working group, which should present a result by the middle of 2021. ”However, he criticizes:“ Unfortunately, it has to be stated that the working group was not convened on time and therefore no result has been presented to date. ”It was therefore“ incomprehensible and incorrect, that in the district council meeting on October 25th, the Gymnasium Poing is again on the waiting list for voting ”.

Gymnasium Poing: Decisive district council meeting on October 25th

Any further delay, according to Hingerl, increases the pressure on the existing grammar schools and secondary schools in the district and "generates massive costs for the necessary capacity expansion and drives up the construction prices for the new building".

The necessary and approved construction of the grammar school is a compulsory task and must be implemented immediately, writes the SPD parliamentary group spokesman.

Interest group receives political support

The interest group “Gymnasium Poing JETZT” is receiving support from the local SPD and the Free Voting Association (FWG).

"We are of the opinion that the pressure on the district office and our district administrator must be increased, otherwise a realization in the next few years is in the stars and in the long term there is a risk of the new building of a grammar school being canceled," writes Poing's 2nd mayor Reinhard Tonollo for the local SPD association.

The FWG Poing announces: "We are happy about the interest group founded by parents and, as the FWG local council faction, support their demands on the district."
