Wolfratshausen - The Wolfratshausen cinema received an award for the excellent range of programs and receives a prize of 10,000 euros.

Bavaria's digital minister and chairwoman of the supervisory board of the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern) Judith Gerlach awarded a total of 800,000 euros to 79 Bavarian film theaters for their excellent programming, including the cinema in Wolfratshausen.

“We were delighted to receive the award.

My mother and I always try to offer a high-quality program in our two cinemas, ”explains owner Cornelia John.

"The recognition of the award is good for you," continued John.

Minister of State Gerlach explained: “Cinema is so much more than just watching films on a big screen - it is an experience for the whole family. This year's award winners impressed the audience with their programs and special campaigns and, especially in the corona pandemic, created an island of experiences and joy. They all more than deserve the award and I am very pleased to be able to honor this outstanding achievement with a total of 800,000 euros. "

FFF managing director Dorothee Erpenstein added: “The cinemas have recaptured the audience. They are and will remain an indispensable part of film culture, not only in the city, but also in the country. The spectrum of award-winning film theaters ranges from owner-operated multiplex cinemas to arthouse cinemas in metropolises and university towns to experimental houses with avant-garde films and the small and only cinema in one place. With their commitment and ideas, they all contribute to strengthening Bavaria as a cinema location. "

The funds for the program awards come from the FFF shareholders: Free State of Bavaria, Bayerische Landeszentrale für neue Medien, Bayerischer Rundfunk, ZDF, Seven. One Entertainment Group, RTL Television and Sky Deutschland Fernsehen.

In addition to the program bonuses, the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital has supported the Bavarian film, television and cinema industry in coping with the corona pandemic with aid funds.

The ministry has made a total of 46 million euros available for this.

At the Wolfratshausen cinema, according to John, the prize money goes towards investments in ventilation, new projectors and the company's own electricity generation using solar energy.
