Local history in seven new catalogs

Markt Schwaben - The annual exhibition 2020 would have wanted to refer to "30 exciting years of the Markt Schwaben local history museum". Because of Corona, it had to be canceled, although the volunteer Andrea Frick, who is also an archivist in the town hall, had actually already finished everything. In the past few months, however, the club has not been inactive.

The parish fair Monday was also canceled in the previous year without replacement, as in general the club life of the Swabian museum friends had to be reduced to a minimum due to the pandemic and the associated hygiene requirements. As of April 2020, the traditional museum Sunday was completely canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The local museum had to close. The Heimatmuseum association was only able to reopen the house, the former Schweiger villa, from August 1, 2021 - but only with a prepared hygiene concept.

Despite the inevitable side effects in pandemic times, the members of the Heimatmuseum association have not been idle since the last general meeting in September 2020. In immense voluntary work, some have drawn up half a dozen museum catalogs, which have now been presented to the public for the first time.

They describe the individual museum rooms, exhibits and photos and also provide a great deal of background knowledge.

Additional stories and events, especially from the “Swabian point of view”, are not missing.

All catalogs were ready for printing - Andrea Frick.

Thematic catalogs can be purchased for four or eight euros

“This enables us to provide our museum guides and our visitors with very special exhibition catalogs. They go far beyond the museum texts and are often supplemented with personal stories from Markt Schwabenern, ”says Bernd Romir, the club's head. And he continues to rave about: "Countless historical dates, names and events in our place are recorded and are therefore still available to future generations".

The following catalogs were created: Regional archeology (Josef Forchhammer responsible), Schwaben Castle and Swabia Castle (Franz Bader and Karin Nahrhaft), Swabian views and Poststüberl (Ludwig Schartner and Andrea Frick), porcelain, chamber, kitchen, sacred things (Birgitta Diekhoff and Andrea Frick), printing, weaving, shoemaker and country school (Gerald Ertl, Andrea Frick and Bernd Romir), contemporary history 1900 - 1950 and 1950 - 2000 (Herbert Weiß) as well as the railway in Markt Schwaben (Karl Bürger).

According to Romir, special thanks go to honorary member Josef Blasi, who answered many questions that arose during the research.

“We were allowed to use the Ortschronik Markt Schwaben, published by Josef Blasi and Irmgard Köhler, as a basis for individual information on the topics.

Our member Otmar Langwadt revised the history of our Schwabener coat of arms store, which you can read in the Burg Schwaben catalog, ”said the chairman of the association during the general meeting, which was attended by around 30 members these days.

Almost 1500 volunteer hours contributed

The association received financial support for the catalog project from the Kreissparkasse München Starnberg Ebersberg and the administrative district of Upper Bavaria / district home maintenance.

An edition of 30 pieces was initially produced for each catalog.

The official publisher is the association "Heimatmuseum Markt Schwaben eV"

According to Romir, there are almost 1,500 hours of volunteer hours in the catalogs that were contributed by the ten authors.

Outstanding are the regional archeology of Josef Forchhammer with 350 and the contemporary history 1900 - 1950 of Herbert Weiß with 340 working hours, it was said in the course of the meeting.

The following prices were set by the board of directors: The smaller catalogs (less than 50 pages) should therefore cost four euros, the larger copies eight euros.

Collection (and payment) of the catalogs is expected to be possible on opening days in the museum.

The next regular opening day in the Heimatmuseum is Sunday, November 7th, from 2 p.m.

Special thanks to honorary member Josef Blasi

Romir once again used the Annual General Meeting to thank the numerous contributors for their commitment.

Namely with his deputy Karl Haushofer, Birgitta Diekhoff (who holds the finances together perfectly), secretary Herbert Weiß and the advisory boards Karin Nahrhaft, Joseph Forchhammer, Reinhard Klemens, Richard Neumaier and Ludwig Schartner.

In addition, as already mentioned, with Andrea Frick, Günther Mayr, Gerald Ertl, Otmar Langwadt, the Museums-Musi, Brigitte Gruber, Martin Schimpf, Jakob Hechtl and Michael Hacker.

Speaking of music: The association used Kiramontag this year to celebrate after the regular meeting in the brewery according to tradition.

It was almost a replacement for the Museum Kirtamontag, which could not be held again this year in its tried and tested form due to the corona requirements.

As for future tasks, there is still work to be done, according to Romir's accountability report.

“The media station on contemporary history 1950-2000 is still waiting to be completed.

But here too we were slowed down by the pandemic. "
