Second division soccer team FC St. Pauli has to do without Jannes Wieckhoff for the time being.
The 21-year-old defender and midfielder has undergone an operation on his left knee and will be out until further notice, the Kiezclub announced on Wednesday.
The operation was already carried out by knee specialist Karl-Heinz Frosch at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf on Tuesday and was successful, the association announced.
Hamburg - "This injury is of course bitter for us as a team and especially for Jannes himself. He fought his way back after a long break last year," said sports director Andreas Bornemann.
The talent suffered the setback on Sunday in the home game of the U23 against Weiche Flensburg (2: 1) and will start his rehab shortly.
