The community is still struggling to break the 40 percent mark.

The brand that is necessary for Deutsche Glasfaser as a provider in order to be able to create the network in Eichenau economically.

You are a long way away from that just under two weeks before the deadline expires.

Eichenau - At an information event, Mayor Peter Münster announced that just under 20 percent of all households in the municipality had expressed an interest in a contract.

The town hall chief is considering an extension of the deadline.

The closer you get to the 40 percent, the greater the chances.

"With 35 percent an extension is probably more likely than with 20."

The information event was set up by Dennis Domagalski with a kind of citizens' initiative.

He speaks of guaranteed advantages: Among other things, higher data security and every provider can be switched to fiber optics at a later date.

In his presentation, Domagalski names the potential disadvantages that this takes a certain amount of time and that the hardware has to be set up again.

The possible fiber optic connection will probably only be used around mid-2023: “The planning, expansion and activation phase will still go on for some time,” explained the 37-year-old.

He regretted that the interest in the event in the civic center was very limited, but did not let himself be discouraged: “Pass on the information,” he said to the 14 people present.

At the information booths last Friday and Saturday, the interest was quite okay, said Domagalski.

The audience in the community center became interested in modern technology.

However, from some of the requests to speak, there was criticism of the methods used to advertise contracts.

There was talk of columns of handles on the front doors and aggressive advertisers.

Mayor Munster is aware of the problem.

But he announced that they had recognized this at Deutsche Glasfaser: "Work has been done on the appearance."
