A Hebrew prayer book was auctioned at Sotheby's in New York for almost seven million euros.
It originated a good 700 years ago in what is now Bavaria.
New York / Munich - A Hebrew prayer book, which was created around 700 years ago in what is now Bavaria, was auctioned in New York for around 8.3 million dollars (around 7 million euros).
That was more than ever paid for at auction for a Hebrew manuscript.
The auction house Sotheby's announced on Tuesday (local time).

The "Luzzatto High Holiday Mahzor" was offered for sale by a Jewish cultural organization - and had previously been estimated at between four and six million dollars.
Sotheby's also said that several bidders had a minute-long competition.
The highest bidder was ultimately an American collector who initially wanted to remain anonymous.
