More than 116 people have died and dozens are still missing in floods and landslides in India and Nepal.
And the French press agency quoted officials in the state of Uttarakhand in northern India as saying that 46 people were killed in the past days, while 11 people were missing after heavy rains caused landslides and the collapse of several buildings.
In Kerala, in the south of the country, the state's chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, said the death toll there had reached 39.
And Indian media announced yesterday that the death toll from the floods that swept the country amounted to 41, while meteorologists warned of increased rain in the coming days.
In neighboring Nepal, Humkala Pandey, an official of the Disaster Management Department, said that in the past three days, 31 people were killed by floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in various parts of the country, noting that 43 people are missing.
"It is still raining in several places, and we are still collecting the toll, which may rise further," Pandey added.
