Driving too fast becomes significantly more expensive.

The new catalog of fines has already been decided, now the next step follows.

The regulations will soon come into force.

Berlin - speeders and parking offenders will soon have to dig deeper into their pockets.

As the Federal Ministry of Transport has now announced, the changes to the fine catalog regulation are to be announced in the Federal Law Gazette this Tuesday (October 19) and then come into force three weeks later.

Means: It will be more expensive from November 10th.

Catalog of fines: lawn, wrong parking & Co. - these penalties threaten

The renewed catalog of fines provides for harsher penalties for violations of the rules in road traffic.

For example, if you drive 16 to 20 kilometers per hour too fast in urban areas in the future and get a lightning bolt, you will soon pay 70 euros instead of 35.

The new catalog of fines follows the principle: the faster, the more expensive.

Drivers who drive through the city at about 91 km / h instead of the permitted 50 km / h pay 400 instead of 200 euros if they are caught, and so on.

If you drive 16 to 20 km / h too fast outside of town and get caught, you will soon pay 60 euros instead of 30, and here too the following applies: the faster, the more expensive.

In many cases - that is, the number of speeding levels - it is a question of doubling the fines.

In future, there will also be higher fines for those who illegally park on sidewalks and cycle paths, stop unauthorized on protective lanes or park and stop in the second row.

Parking in the second row will cost 55 instead of 20 euros in the future, and it will be even more expensive if other road users are hindered or endangered.

Another new feature is a fine of 55 euros for unauthorized parking in a parking lot for electrically powered vehicles and car sharing vehicles.

Driving ban rules and the rules on points in Flensburg when driving too fast should remain unchanged.

Catalog of fines: Stricter controls required - New catalog resolved after errors

Transport associations welcome the adjustment, but also call for the control presence to be increased.

The President of the German Traffic Guard, Kurt Bodewig, said: "So far, the sentence has been simply too mild in many cases and the adjustments to the catalog of fines are therefore overdue." The police controls would have to be strengthened.

The ADAC also demanded that controls at dangerous spots and thus the risk of being discovered must be increased.

The aim of the adaptation is to increase road safety.

Cyclists and pedestrians should also be better protected.

The new catalog of fines was preceded by long negotiations between the federal and state governments.

Due to a formal error by the Ministry of Transport, headed by Andreas Scheuer (CSU), stricter rules on fines in the new road traffic regulations were suspended last year.

As a result, a political dispute arose, especially about the actually planned tougher driving ban rules when driving too fast - but these are not coming.

Instead, the federal and state governments agreed to increase fines.

The Federal Council unanimously approved the tightening on October 8th.

Now comes the next step with the Federal Law Gazette - before it becomes more expensive for some drivers from November 10th.
