Around ten percent of all corona cases in Great Britain are said to be due to the newly discovered Delta Plus mutation.

As the numbers skyrocket, the government still sees no reason to act.

London - For almost two years, the coronavirus has determined the lives of many people around the world.

Whether the fear of infection or simply the measures that are still present in everyday life: the coronavirus and its mutations have become an indispensable part of everyday life.

Now a new variant, the Delta Plus mutation, has been increasingly discovered in Great Britain.

At the same time, the number of infections is increasing explosively.

Experts are now calling for a return to strict corona rules.

New Delta Plus mutation discovered in Great Britain: Corona numbers explode

As reported by the Austrian portal

Science.ORF

,

among others

, more and more cases of the Delta-Plus mutation are said to have been discovered in Great Britain. As the portal explains, citing the British Wellcome Sanger Institute, the mutant is said to be responsible for around ten percent of all corona infections officially recorded in Great Britain. According to the

BBC,

however, it is still unclear whether the new Delta Plus variant is possibly more contagious or dangerous than the previously known Delta variant. However, there is currently no evidence of this.

As the Austrian portal further reports, the Delta Plus variant is said to have so far rarely occurred outside of Great Britain.

The mutation with the scientific name AY.4.2 is said to differ by two mutations in the spike protein.

Return to corona measures?

Health experts urge the government to act

Regardless of the new Delta Plus variant, representatives of the British health service are currently calling for an immediate return to corona measures.

As Matthew Taylor, head of the National Health Service Confederation,

 told

the

Guardian

, the government should not rely on a "Plan B" but rather on a "Plan B Plus".

A few weeks ago the government presented its "Plan B".

This included the reintroduction of the requirement to wear a mask indoors and the request to work in the home office.

Vaccination certificates at larger events are also provided for in "Plan B".

Great Britain is currently still relying on “Plan A”.

This stipulates that you should only rely on the vaccinations you have received so far.

Almost 79 percent of citizens aged twelve and over who are eligible for vaccination are already fully immunized.

Corona numbers continue to rise in the UK - 50,000 new cases in one day

If Matthew Taylor has his way, the situation could get even worse in winter.

“We're on a knife's edge - and it's mid-October.

We'd need a lot of luck not to find ourselves in a serious crisis for the next three months, ”said Taylor.

Accordingly, citizens should be called upon to restrict their behavior again with regard to Corona.

But as Minister of Economic Affairs Kwasi Kwarteng told the

BBC

on Wednesday

, the government is currently not even of the opinion that it is time for "Plan B".

Meanwhile, the number of cases of infection in Great Britain continues to escalate.

At the beginning of the week, almost 50,000 new corona cases were reported within 24 hours.

The seven-day incidence was given as 435.

And the corona cases are also skyrocketing again in Germany.

The RKI reported a surprisingly high value on Wednesday.
