New information boards and reconstructed border pillars are intended to refresh awareness of the division of Germany in the Harz Mountains.
In the national park, two signs and two pillars were officially presented on Monday.
"It's about strengthening the culture of remembrance at important points," said Lothar Engler from the Abbenrode border district.
The association implemented the project financed by the Lower Saxony district of Goslar.
Goslar - Many hikers on the Brocken are no longer aware of exactly where the border once ran, said Engler.
He and his colleagues are interested in creating a sustainable effect along the routes.
"Material such as texts and historical images are available," said Engler.
It is important to place them in the right places.
