Official order for lawyers in Jordan: "Not to approve real estate transactions in Judea and Samaria" | Israel today

Despite the recent water agreement signed between Jerusalem and Amman, Foreign Minister Ayman a-Safdi issued a written directive to the Ministry of Justice: "Not to regulate any sale agreement concerning Palestinian lands" • Israeli Foreign Ministry: "The issue is being addressed"

Improved relations between Israel and Jordan?

Jordan's foreign and justice ministries have recently ordered all lawyers in the country not to approve real estate transactions conducted in Judea and Samaria.

Jordan ruled these areas from 1967 to 1948, during which it distributed and registered many plots of land in the name of Arab residents who lived in the area.

The Jordanian registration remains of great legal significance to this day, and the Israeli authorities often rely on documents from Jordan.

A directive from Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safdi to the Ministry of Justice stated that "all notaries in the provinces of the kingdom should stop regulating agencies for use in the state of Palestine. The Jordanian Bar Association should clarify this with the lawyers, and not settle any land agreement." Palestinians. "

The Bar Association, which is known for its hostility to Israel, issued an identical directive to its members following the letter, which called on "all companies and members' lawyers not to settle any sale agreement concerning Palestinian land."

Jordanian policy of not approving real estate transactions in Judea and Samaria has been in place for many years.

It is not clear why Amman decided to publish it in the Scriptures right now.

It should be noted that the Palestinian request from Jordan to announce a ban on aid for real estate transactions was also forwarded to the authorities there two years ago.

The Jordanian move violates, on the face of it, the freedom of trade and the right to property of Israelis and Palestinians whose occupation is the sale of land.

The Palestinian Authority is waging a bitter war against residents who market their land to Jews.

According to the law in the PA, a Palestinian who sells a real estate property to a Jew is liable to death. Apparently, the Palestinian appeal to Jordan is intended to deceive another difficulty into this pattern of action.

It will be recalled that only last July, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett met with King Abdullah of Jordan, and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid met with his counterpart a-Safdi and agreed with him on increasing trade between the kingdom, the Palestinian Authority and Israel, as well as selling another 50 million cubic meters of water to Jordan.

The agreement to increase the amount of water was signed last week.

The Foreign Ministry said: "The issue is being dealt with by the Jordanian government."

The organization "Up to Here" responded to the revelation: "The Kingdom of Jordan is harming its former Palestinian citizens, who want to sell their land in Judea and Samaria at a great price. This is another achievement of the Palestinian Authority in the campaign for control of Area C, and the State of Israel is doing nothing. "It is impossible for the Israeli government to double the amount of water transferred to Jordan, while the Jordanians are interfering in Israel's internal affairs without any protest from Israel."
